Ayla Kara Honored in Istanbul Memorial and New Informatics Class in Kahramanmaraş
Istanbul’s Fatih district held the "Öğretmenime Vefa" program to honor teachers killed in recent school attacks. The ceremony remembered Ayla Kara, who died protecting students during the Kahramanmaraş attack, and Fatma Nur Çelik, who was slain in a knife attack in Çekmeköy. Attendees included Istanbul Provincial Education Directorate head Murat Mücahit Yılmaz, Kara’s husband Ramazan Kara, officials, teachers and students. The event began with a Qur’an recitation, featured a video tribute and poetry, and Yılmaz said, "Bu mesleğin kutsiyeti, duyguların varlığıyla ölçülür…" while Ramazan Kara recalled his wife’s words, "Ben okula gittiğimde huzur buluyorum" and praised her sacrifice.
In Kahramanmaraş’s Türkoğlu district, a new informatics classroom was inaugurated at Ayser Çalık Ortaokulu and named after Ayla Kara. The project, supported by local NGOs and the TCDD retirees’ association, aims to provide digital‑age education to primary and secondary students. Kaymakam Mustafa Nevzat Mercan said, "Geleceğin dünyasını inşa edecek çocuklarımızı dijital çağın olanaklarıyla buluşturmak…" The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Mehmet Karaca, Provincial Education Directorate head Turan Akpınar and other officials.
