Turkey opens public voting for 'Kahramanım Mehmetçik' art contest

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) and the Ministry of National Defense (MSB) have launched a nationwide school art competition titled “Kahramanım Mehmetçik ve Vatan”. After a multi‑stage selection process that narrowed entries from primary, secondary and high schools to three finalists in each category, the final artworks will be voted on by the public.

Voting will be conducted on the MSB’s official X (Twitter) account. Primary and secondary school works are open for votes from 2 – 7 August 2026, while high‑school entries are voted on from 7 – 14 August. The winners in each category will be announced on 21 August 2026.

The contest aims to foster national defence awareness among students and celebrate the role of the Turkish Armed Forces through artistic expression.
