Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia launch Mecca Agreement

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that the Mecca Agreement has initiated a process to establish a new security and cooperation architecture in the region. Speaking in Istanbul following the first meeting under this trilateral agreement between Turkey, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, Fidan stated that the alliance aims to foster greater regional stability and reduce insecurity.

The agreement is designed to be expandable, allowing other nations to join through specific procedures and standards currently being developed. Fidan noted that officials are working on an action plan for the membership process to ensure new allies join a well-established and effective structure.

The high-level meeting at the Ciragan Palace included defense and foreign ministers from all three nations, as well as their respective chiefs of general staff, to discuss creating an institutionalized structure capable of addressing regional challenges and promoting peace and prosperity.
