Turkey Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş says 'terror‑free Turkey' reforms to be finished before recess

Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş told a televised program that Turkey has become a key hub of global diplomacy and highlighted the progress of the “terror‑free Turkey” initiative. He referenced the ceremony on Cudi Mountain in Şırnak, where a large crowd marked the “Hazreti Nuh” commemoration and noted that the region now produces about 80,000 barrels of oil.

Kurtulmuş said the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission has prepared a detailed report and that a special, temporary law will be enacted to facilitate the surrender of weapons and the dissolution of armed groups, stressing that it will not constitute an amnesty. He expressed hope that the parliamentary work on this process will be largely completed before the parliament’s summer recess, allowing Turkey to “take a breath of relief.”
