Turkey pays 120 billion lira to bridge, highway and city‑hospital contractors in H1 2026

Turkey’s budget allocated roughly 120 billion Turkish lira to contractors for bridges, highways and city‑hospital projects during the first six months of 2026. Under the public‑private partnership (PPP) model, the General Directorate of Highways (KGM) paid 49.6 billion lira for bridge and highway operators, a figure expected to rise to 103.2 billion lira by year‑end. The Ministry of Health’s city‑hospital rentals reached 70.2 billion lira in the same period, bringing the combined total close to 120 billion lira.

In the previous year, total payments for bridges, highways and city hospitals amounted to 196.2 billion lira. Currently, 25 city hospitals are operating, while many state hospitals in city centres have been closed, directing patients to facilities built on the urban periphery.
