Turkey: PKK casualty figures released and calls for justice in teen's death

Murat Karayılan, a member of the People's Defense Center, stated in an interview that 25,922 PKK members have died between 1976 and 2026. He noted that the number could reach approximately 27,000 if unrecorded individuals are included. Karayılan also estimated that between 5,000 and 10,000 civilians have died during conflict periods.

Separately, Eren Küpeli, President of the Istanbul Göle Associations Federation (GÖLE-FED), issued a call for justice following the death of 14-year-old Murat İmrağ. İmrağ died in Sakarya after being struck by a licensed firearm during a visit to a friend's home. Küpeli emphasized that the federation will follow the legal process to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable for negligence regarding the firearm's storage and use.
