Turkey places 13 universities in global top‑1,000 ranking
The University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP) released its 2025‑2026 world university ranking. Thirteen Turkish higher‑education institutions entered the top 1,000 of the list that ranks the world’s 3,000 universities. Hacettepe University achieved the highest Turkish position at rank 585. Other Turkish universities placed within the top 1,000 include Istanbul Technical University (710), Ankara University (748), Gazi University (824), Koç University (832), Istanbul University (890), Ege University (891), Atatürk University (894), Middle East Technical University (936), Health Sciences University (958), Near East University (971), Istanbul University‑Cerrahpaşa (977) and Yıldız Technical University (981). In total, 128 Turkish universities appear in the overall top 3,000. Harvard University topped the global ranking, while China fielded the most institutions in the top 20.
The ranking assesses universities on six indicators: article count, citation count, total scientific documents, total publication impact, total citation impact, and international collaboration.
