Turkey police kill ISIS suspect near Ankara ahead of NATO summit

Turkish security forces shot dead a man suspected of links to the Islamic State in a shootout south of Ankara, in the locality of Sazagasi (about 80 km) or Haymana (about 70 km), according to reports. His partner, also suspected of ISIS ties, was wounded and taken into custody.

The operation was part of a wider crackdown in Ankara province in which more than 200 people suspected of affiliation with ISIS or far‑left extremist groups were arrested. Authorities are tightening security ahead of the NATO summit scheduled for 7‑8 July in Ankara, which is expected to be attended by U.S. President Donald Trump. Protest bans and road restrictions around the summit venues and hotels have been announced.
