Turkey police seize 10,000 counterfeit gold items in multi‑province raid

Police from the Kahramanmaraş Provincial Directorate of Security conducted simultaneous raids in ten provinces, deploying 150 teams and 490 officers. The operation resulted in the detention of 69 suspects, of whom 22 were later ordered to be imprisoned and 23 placed under judicial control.

Authorities recovered 10,749 pieces of fake gold, including 5 kg of counterfeit gold bars, 123 seals and molds, 112 historical artifacts, ten pistols, nine unlicensed rifles, five short-barreled pistols, 3,338 cartridges and 26 synthetic drug tablets. The seized items were valued at roughly 220 million Turkish lira.

The raids were part of a project aimed at combating counterfeit currency and qualified fraud, coordinated by the Organized Crime and Smuggling Unit of the Kahramanmaraş police.
