Turkey postal sector shipments rise to 728 million on e-commerce growth

Driven by the growth of e-commerce, Turkey's postal and cargo sector saw a significant increase in activity during the first half of 2026. According to data from the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK), the number of postal parcels and cargo shipments rose by 5.4 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 728.31 million.

To meet this rising demand, service providers invested a total of 3.524 billion lira in the first six months of 2026. The sector's workforce grew to 122,804 employees. PTT remains the largest employer, accounting for 32 percent of the sector's staff, followed by Yurtiçi Kargo at 14 percent and Aras Kargo at 11 percent.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu noted that the sector is undergoing a rapid transformation. He highlighted that while traditional letter mail volumes are declining, there is a corresponding surge in e-commerce-related package deliveries, a trend expected to continue.
