Turkey postpones any mid‑year increase to the 2026 minimum wage

The Turkish government has not announced a mid‑year raise for the minimum wage that was lifted to 28,075 TL at the start of 2026. AK Party group leader Abdullah Güler stated that no work is currently underway on a temporary increase, while the economy ministry said wage policy is being evaluated within the broader anti‑inflation program.

Workers continue to feel pressure from high inflation and rising living costs, prompting unions and representatives to call for a raise. In July, civil‑servant and pensioner salaries are expected to be adjusted based on six‑month inflation figures, but there is no automatic mechanism for a minimum‑wage hike. The decision will depend on upcoming inflation data, budget balances and growth figures.
