Anadolu Sigorta launches solar plant in Sinop amid national grid upgrades
Anadolu Sigorta has launched a solar energy plant (GES) in the Boyabat district of Sinop, marking the first self-consumption plant in the Turkish insurance sector. Spanning approximately 19,000 square meters, the facility is expected to produce 2,450 MWh of energy annually. This investment is part of the company’s strategy to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and reduce Scope 2 emissions under the GHG Protocol.
Simultaneously, energy providers across Turkey are conducting extensive infrastructure works. UEDAŞ is implementing large-scale investments across Bursa, Balıkesir, Çanakkale, and Yalova to modernize the grid and meet rising demand, involving over 1,700 personnel.
Widespread planned power outages have been announced for late September 2026 due to maintenance, network improvements, and new investments. Affected regions include Mardin, Bolu, Adana, Van, Eskişehir, Konya, Rize, Istanbul, Gaziantep, İzmir, and Alanya. These outages vary in duration and scope, impacting numerous districts and neighborhoods as utilities work to strengthen the national energy distribution network.
