Turkey predicts ~18% pension and 14% civil servant salary hikes in July
Social Security chief Isa Karakaş said that, based on May inflation data, pensions for SSK and Bağ‑Kur retirees are set to rise by roughly 18 % in July, while retirements for civil servants are expected to increase by about 14 %. He noted that current calculations show a 16.6 % increase already fixed for SSK/Bağ‑Kur and a 12.4 % rise for civil servants under collective bargaining, but a more precautionary estimate points to an average 18 % and 14 % adjustment respectively.
With the projected 18 % rise, the lowest pension, currently 20,000 lira, would reach about 23,600 lira. The lowest civil‑servant pension, at 27,888 lira, would become roughly 31,792 lira under a 14 % increase, and could rise to about 32,908 lira if the government equalises the increase to 18 % across both groups. Karakaş said no concrete plan for a universal “seyyanen” (across‑the‑board) raise exists yet, though future economic and political developments may bring new proposals.
