Turkey prepares 13th Judicial Package for October parliamentary session
Turkey is preparing to introduce its 13th Judicial Package to the Grand National Assembly, with plans to present the proposal in October. The package is expected to consist of approximately 24 to 25 articles.
A primary focus of the reform is the regulation of alimony following a Constitutional Court decision to annul the rule regarding indefinite poverty alimony. The proposed framework aims to replace indefinite alimony with a system based on three criteria: the duration of the marriage, the economic conditions of the parties, and the specific needs arising after the divorce.
Other anticipated changes include measures to accelerate divorce proceedings, shorten litigation periods, and expedite rent determination and eviction lawsuits. While there is public speculation regarding potential amnesty or execution law reforms, officials have cautioned that no official proposal regarding such matters has been submitted to Parliament yet.
