Turkey Prepares for COP31 with Malatya Climate Summit

Turkey is advancing preparations for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) scheduled for November 2026 in Antalya. In Malatya, the metropolitan mayor Sami Er hosted an international gathering of government ministers, development banks, UN agencies and local officials to discuss strengthening climate‑resilient cities and fostering cooperation ahead of the conference.

Parallel analysis by CDP Turkey highlighted that 45 Turkish firms appear on the CDP Global A List, with 70% reporting a 1.5 °C‑aligned transition plan, though only a third include fossil‑fuel phase‑out measures and 12% have verified net‑zero targets. CDP Turkey senior manager Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş emphasized that the shift from reporting to implementation will be a decisive factor for the success of COP31 and for Turkey’s broader sustainability agenda.
