Turkey braces for July 2026 fuel price hikes as tax increase takes effect

An automatic increase in the special consumption tax (ÖTV) scheduled for July 2026 will raise fuel prices across Turkey. The tax hike adds about 2.66 TL per litre to gasoline, 2.84 TL to diesel and 1.22 TL to LPG. In Istanbul’s European side, gasoline is expected to climb from 62.29 TL to roughly 64.95 TL per litre, diesel from 64.57 TL to about 67.41 TL, and LPG from 31.99 TL to 33.21 TL. Similar jumps are projected for Ankara (gasoline ~65.89 TL, diesel ~68.48 TL, LPG ~33.19 TL) and İzmir (gasoline ~66.16 TL, diesel ~68.76 TL, LPG ~33.01 TL). The rise translates to an extra cost of roughly 133 TL for a 50‑litre gasoline tank and about 142 TL for the same volume of diesel.

At the same time, market sources report a 0.52 TL per litre discount on LPG that will start at midnight on 2 July 2026, lowering LPG prices in major cities to around 31 TL per litre. The contrasting moves affect millions of drivers and raise logistics costs for transport firms, keeping fuel price dynamics a top economic concern in Turkey.

Current tables (as of 28 June 2026) still show gasoline around 62 TL‑63 TL, diesel 64 TL‑66 TL and LPG 31 TL‑32 TL, but the upcoming tax revision and the LPG discount will reshape pump prices within days.
