Turkey prepares for Eastern Mediterranean war scenarios

The document, dated August 10, 2026, and signed by Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, explicitly mentions preparations for crises, tensions, and war.

The response was issued to a parliamentary question from Gaziantep deputy Hasan Öztürkmen. It highlights that Turkey is closely monitoring Greek military activities and equipment programs in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, as well as the strengthening defense cooperation between Greece and Israel.

Additionally, the ministry noted that its planning includes considerations for the security of Cyprus and the broader region, emphasizing that necessary measures are being taken to address any potential military escalation.
