Antalya to host COP31 UN Climate Summit in November 2026

Turkey is preparing to host the 31st United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya from November 9 to 20, 2026. The event will take place at the Antalya EXPO Center, covering a total area of approximately 1.1 million square meters. The venue is divided into a 527,000 square meter Blue Zone for official UN negotiations and high-level officials, and a 582,000 square meter Green Zone for civil society, the private sector, and the public.

The summit is expected to host approximately 20,000 to 30,000 delegates, including nearly 100 heads of state or government and between 200 and 300 ministers. A World Leaders Summit is scheduled for November 11–12, 2026. To support the event, local authorities are implementing various infrastructure and security measures, including the use of graphene-infused asphalt on routes for world leaders to reduce carbon emissions.

China's Ambassador to Turkey, Jiang Shubin, highlighted the potential for strategic cooperation between China and Turkey in green energy technologies and climate diplomacy. Meanwhile, Turkish Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum outlined a roadmap featuring 10 priority themes and 6 global goals, aiming to position the summit as an 'Implementation COP' focused on turning climate commitments into concrete actions.
