Turkish Air Force F-16 crashes in Yalova during training flight

A Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in Yalova province, northwest of Istanbul. The incident occurred around 15:00 local time near the 18th Main Jet Base in the Çiftlikköy district. The aircraft had taken off from Eskişehir as part of a training program for Air Force Academy candidates and students.

The pilot successfully used the ejection seat to escape the aircraft and survived the crash. He was transported to Yalova Training and Research Hospital for precautionary medical evaluation, and officials have reported that his condition is stable with no life-threatening injuries. No civilian or military personnel on the ground were injured, and no property damage was reported outside of the destruction of the aircraft itself.

Authorities, including the Yalova Governor and the Ministry of National Defense, have confirmed that the crash was a single-aircraft accident and did not involve a mid-air collision. A detailed investigation has been launched by a military commission and the Yalova Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to determine whether the cause was a technical failure or another factor. Emergency response teams, including AFAD and local fire services, secured the site and prevented the spread of fire in the wooded area where the jet fell.
