Turkey prioritizes railway and logistics infrastructure investments

Turkey is prioritizing significant transportation and industrial infrastructure investments for the 2027-2029 period. The national investment program focuses on expanding railway capacity, including major projects such as the Mersin-Gaziantep, Ankara-Izmir, Bandırma-Bursa-Osmaneli, and Halkali-Kapikule lines. Efforts will also target railway electrification, signaling, and the domestic production of rail vehicles.

In the maritime sector, investments are directed toward the East Mediterranean Main Container Port and the Iyidere Logistics Port to reduce processing times and operational costs. For urban transit, new rail projects will be evaluated based on passenger demand thresholds, with specific requirements for trams, light rail, and metro systems.

Complementing these infrastructure goals, the TEKNOSAB Logistics Park in Bursa has commenced development. Vice President Yılmaz highlighted the importance of integrating production areas with ports via railways. The TEKNOSAB industrial zone is designed to support digital and green transformations through integrated energy systems, including solar and wind power, to bolster national export capabilities.
