Turkey projects modest July salary hike for civil servants and retirees, inflation to cut net gains

The Central Bank of Turkey released a market participants survey indicating that the 6‑month cumulative inflation expected for the July‑December period will reach about 18.19%. Based on this forecast, the July salary increase for civil servants and civil‑servant retirees is projected at 13.93%, while retirees under the SSK and Bağ‑Kur schemes are set for an 18.19% raise.

The survey also showed a June consumer‑price inflation expectation of 1.36%. Applying the projected inflation to the announced raises, analysts estimate that a substantial portion of the increase will be eroded. For example, the lowest civil‑servant salary, currently 27,772 TL, would rise to roughly 31,642 TL, but after inflation the net gain would shrink to about 2,909 TL. Similarly, the lowest retiree salary would climb from 20,000 TL to around 23,639 TL, only to see a net increase of roughly 2,638 TL after inflation adjustments.
