Turkey proposes green passport expansion for seven professions
New legislative proposals have been submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) to expand the scope of the special stamped passport, commonly known as the green passport. The proposals, currently before the TBMM Interior Affairs Commission, aim to grant this privilege to seven specific professional groups provided they meet certain seniority and experience requirements.
The proposed criteria vary by profession:
• Pilots: Must have at least five years of actual flight experience following licensure. • Engineers and Architects: Must be members of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB) and possess at least ten years of professional seniority. • Medical Professionals: Physicians, dentists, veterinarians, and pharmacists must have at least 15 years of active professional experience in either the public or private sectors.
The regulations are not yet law and must pass through the relevant commission stages and be approved by the TBMM General Assembly to take effect.
