Turkey proposes new compromise terms for Iran-US negotiations

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that new terms for a compromise between Iran and the United States have been proposed. Fidan expressed hope that both parties would accept these terms to resolve the ongoing stalemate in negotiations.

Fidan noted that recent months have seen a deadlock in US-Iran talks, leading to mutual attacks and complicating regional security, specifically mentioning tensions in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait involving Yemen. He warned that if a resolution is not reached, the crisis could expand toward Saudi Arabia and result in severe economic consequences for countries in Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.

Additionally, Fidan addressed regional political tensions, stating that Turkey is closely monitoring comments from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that portray Ankara as a threat. He characterized these remarks as an attempt by Netanyahu to bolster his domestic political standing. Fidan also condemned attacks targeting Saudi Arabian infrastructure and emphasized the need for Saudi Arabia to remain separate from the Iran-US conflict.
