Turkey Ministry of Family and Social Services announces new welfare and employment initiatives

Turkish Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş announced several social welfare initiatives and employment updates. A lottery ceremony was held to place 394 youths who have been under state protection into various public institutions. Göktaş highlighted that the ministry provides support to 11,055 children in foster care and 15,483 in child homes, noting that 258 of these youths have successfully entered university this year.

Regarding disability services, the Minister stated that approximately 490,000 citizens with disabilities are currently receiving support, including home care services. Speaking at a World Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day event, she emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and the ministry's role in supporting the development of children aged 0-8.

Additionally, a new protocol was signed between the Ministry and the European Union Türkiye Delegation to support social integration and education for foreign families living in Turkey. This program, in cooperation with the Turkish Red Crescent, aims to provide aid for basic needs such as food, housing, and education. Göktaş reaffirmed the government's commitment to the 'social state' model, ensuring aid is delivered transparently through the Integrated Social Assistance Information System.
