Erdoğan decree triggers massive Turkish bureaucratic reshuffle

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan signed a decree published in the Official Gazette on 11 July 2026 that reordered senior posts in a wide range of ministries and public institutions. The reshuffle affected the Ministry of National Defence, Family and Social Services, Industry and Technology, Agriculture and Forestry, Culture and Tourism, National Education, Transport and Infrastructure, Foreign Affairs, Energy and Natural Resources, Treasury and Finance, and the Nuclear Regulation Board. New appointments include provincial directors such as Yakup Akkuş (Kırıkkale), Adem Yücel (Amasya), and several others across Adıyaman, Giresun, Mardin, Şanlıurfa and Yozgat. Burak Özügergin was named ambassador to Denmark. Deputy‑ministerial posts were filled by Samet Bulat and İlyas Aktiken (Defence), Murat Yazgan (Industry), Ferit Meftun Harmankaya (Culture and Tourism), and others. Port chiefs and regional directors of the State Railways (TCDD) were also replaced, alongside new forest‑regional directors. The changes took effect immediately following publication.
