Turkey pushes semi‑Olympic swimming pool projects in Orhaneli, Altınordu

In the district of Orhaneli, Bursa, the municipal council held a foundation ceremony for a new semi‑Olympic indoor swimming pool. Local officials including AK Party MP Mustafa Yavuz, district mayor Ali Osman Tayır and district governor Yasin Erdem attended, stating the pool should be operational by early 2027 and will help steer youth away from harmful habits.

Meanwhile, in Altınordu (Eskipazar neighbourhood), Ordu Province, the mayor of Ordu Metropolitan Municipality Dr Mehmet Hilmi Güler reported that construction of a semi‑Olympic pool and a multi‑purpose sports hall is underway. Steel roof work and bricklaying are progressing, and the pool will measure 25 m by 1.40 m with a 950 m² footprint, complemented by facilities such as changing rooms, a sauna and accommodation for athletes. Both projects aim to boost local sports participation and provide modern training venues.
