Turkey raises minimum pension to 23,552 lira, sets payment dates
The Turkish Grand National Assembly approved a law raising the minimum pension from 20,000 lira to 23,552 lira, creating a 3,552 lira difference for beneficiaries whose core pension falls below the new floor. The increase benefits roughly 5.1 million retirees.
Under the new schedule, SSK retirees will receive their July pension on 17 July 2026, while Bağ‑Kur retirees will be paid between 25 and 28 July 2026. The 3,552 lira difference payments are expected to be deposited in the first week of August 2026 once the law is published in the Official Gazette. The Social Security Institution also announced that widows and orphans will receive their July difference payments on 24 July 2026.
Retirees’ groups, including the Turkey Retirees Association, have urged the government to adopt an “intibak” law that would index pensions to real living costs, citing growing hardship across the pensioner population.
