Turkey raises tolls on major bridges and highways

The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) announced that tolls for motorways and bridges operated under public‑private partnership contracts will rise on 1 July 2026. For class‑1 vehicles, the Osmangazi Bridge and the 1915 Çanakkale Bridge increase from 995 TL to 1 170 TL, while the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge rises from 95 TL to 110 TL. Higher fees also apply to other vehicle classes and to the Ankara‑Niğde motorway (740 TL to 925 TL) and the Malkara‑Çanakkale route (1 260 TL to 1 480 TL). No change is made to the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges. The adjustment affects millions of drivers and logistics operators. Opposition politicians have criticised the move: CHP deputy Deniz Yavuzyılmaz warned of a “double increase” because guarantee payments to concessionaires rise with the exchange rate, and former AKP MP Şamil Tayyar likened the hike to a price rise a poultry firm would face, calling it unfair to the public.
