Turkey ranks 11th globally in defense industry exports
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced that Turkey has become the world's 11th largest country in defense industry exports. Speaking at the Aviation, Space, and Technology Festival (Teknofest) in Şanlıurfa, Erdoğan noted that the nation has undergone a significant transformation, moving from an 80 percent dependency on foreign defense technology to a major global exporter.
According to the President, Turkey's defense and aerospace exports reached 511.4 million dollars in August of this year. Furthermore, exports for the January-August period saw a 16.2 percent increase compared to the previous year. He highlighted that there are currently more than 4,500 companies operating within the Turkish defense industry.
During his address to the youth at Teknofest, Erdoğan emphasized the importance of the 'Teknofest generation' in shaping the country's technological future. He also marked the opening of the Şanlıurfa Science Center.
