Turkey ranks as 11th largest global defense exporter
Haluk Görgün, President of the Presidency of Defense Industries, highlighted Turkey's growing role in the global defense market during the MSPO 2026 International Defense Industry Fair in Kielce, Poland. Görgün stated that Turkey has become the world's 11th largest defense exporter, providing over 230 different types of products to 185 countries.
Contrary to perceptions that exports are primarily focused on Africa, Görgün noted that 56 percent of Turkey's defense exports last year went to European and NATO member countries. In 2024, this figure remained above 50 percent.
During the fair, Görgün held several high-level meetings to strengthen international cooperation. He met with UK Defense Procurement and Industry Minister Luke Pollard to discuss areas for Turkish firms to participate in UK defense supply and joint technology development. He also met with Polish Deputy Minister of State Assets Konrad Golota to discuss joint production, technology transfer, and localization models between Turkish and Polish companies. Additionally, discussions with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz focused on deepening existing defense industry collaborations between the two NATO allies.
