Turkey rebar exports rise as China faces economic imbalances
Turkish rebar exports rose 6.9 percent in July compared to the previous year, reaching 373,819 tons. While this represents a 21.4 percent decrease from June, total exports for the first seven months of the year increased by 11.8 percent to 2,633,577 tons. Yemen emerged as the largest export destination for Turkish rebar during this period, with shipments increasing 13.4 percent to 492,436 tons. Other major importers included Palestine, Georgia, Egypt, and the Dominican Republic.
In China, August retail sales grew by only 0.4 percent year-on-year, falling short of analyst expectations. Fixed asset investment also saw a 7.2 percent decline during the first eight months of the year. Conversely, industrial production grew by 5.2 percent in August, driven by strong export machinery. Economists note a widening imbalance in the Chinese economy, where robust industrial output and exports are struggling to offset weak domestic consumption and a prolonged downturn in the housing sector.
