Turkey records 29 million vehicle trips during Eid al‑Adha holiday

Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that during the Kurban Bayramı holiday Turkey's road network handled a total of 29.3 million vehicle passages, including 4.7 million on the two Bosphorus bridges, with the Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge reaching a new daily record of 189,004 vehicles. Highway and concession‑built roads together carried 18.5 million vehicles, while intercity bus operators ran 540,682 trips moving about 5.85 million passengers.

Air traffic also surged: Istanbul Airport logged 15,508 flights serving 2.42 million passengers, Sabiha Gökçen 8,170 flights for 1.40 million passengers, and other airports together accounted for roughly 7.6 million air passengers across 51,962 flights. Rail services moved over 5 million passengers on main‑line, regional and commuter trains, including 4.4 million on the Marmaray.

In the district of Eğil, vehicle monitoring recorded 48,532 entries and 49,325 exits during the same period, highlighting the town’s growing appeal as a holiday destination.
