Turkey redeploys Commando Brigade to Aegean coast near Samos

Turkey has redeployed its 51st Commando Brigade from Hozat in Tunceli province to the Söke garrison in Aydın province. This move places approximately 2,000 specialized troops on the Turkish coast directly opposite the Greek island of Samos.

The redeployment follows the August appointment of Brigadier General Yaşar Karaoğlu as the unit's commander. While Turkish media and analysts have suggested the timing may be a response to recent Greek military activities and political visits, there has been no official statement from Ankara explicitly linking the move to Greece.

The concentration of specialized units near the Aegean, including the 1st Amphibious Marine Brigade in Foça and special forces in İzmir, has drawn scrutiny from Greek defense analysts. Experts have noted that the deployment impacts the military balance in the central and southern Aegean regions.
