Turkey reorganizes military forces and disputes Aegean sovereignty
Turkey is undergoing a significant military reorganization aimed at enhancing its presence in the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, and near Cyprus. According to analysis by Dr. Giannos Charalampidis, Ankara is working to assemble approximately 40 divisions, including specialized amphibious and special forces, to secure strategic axes ranging from the Dardanelles to Syria.
Key developments include the formation of a new Amphibious Corps in Çanakkale and the upgrade of the 5th Commando Regiment on Imbros to a division.
