Turkey reports 32,000 annual breast cancer diagnoses

The Turkish Ministry of Health has reported that approximately 32,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer in Turkey annually. Highlighting Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, officials noted that the lifetime risk for women is estimated at 1 in 16.

To promote early detection, the Ministry emphasized the importance of regular screenings. Recommendations include self-examinations and clinical exams starting at age 20, and mammography screenings every two years for women aged 40 to 69. Under the National Cancer Control Program, 5.1 million screenings have been conducted over the last two years through various centers, including KETEM, resulting in approximately 21,000 early-stage diagnoses.

In a separate initiative to support public awareness, Uludağ Elektrik has implemented a project where customer bills are designed in pink during October. This 'Social Bills' project aims to reach millions of people with messages regarding the critical importance of early diagnosis and health consciousness.
