Turkey reports 48 new extraditions and legislative progress on terrorism

Turkish Justice Minister Akın Gürlek announced that 48 individuals from 12 different countries have been extradited to Turkey since July 1. This brings the total number of extradited persons in 2026 to 245. The Minister emphasized that the government is strengthening international cooperation to combat crime and ensure that those who flee abroad to avoid justice are returned.

Separately, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the graduation ceremony of the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy. He highlighted a recent legislative proposal passed by the Grand National Assembly with 467 votes, describing it as a historic step toward a ‘terror-free Turkey’. Erdoğan stated that the government aims to resolve long-standing security issues through military deterrence and diplomatic efforts to achieve lasting peace and social cohesion.
