Turkey reports four worker deaths and multiple injuries in single day
On July 18, a series of workplace accidents across Turkey resulted in four worker deaths and several injuries. In Istanbul's Beylikdüzü district, 21‑year‑old construction worker Azat N. fell from a scaffold and died despite emergency treatment. In Mardin's Kızıltepe district, 60‑year‑old plasterer Veysi Öztürk slipped from a second‑floor scaffold and succumbed to his injuries. A drilling operation near Konya's Emirgazi district claimed the life of 24‑year‑old worker Alpaslan Kaya. In Antalya's Kumluca district, a logistics truck overturned on a ramp, killing driver Halil İbrahim Sevimli.
Separate incidents injured five workers, including three in Batman's Gercüş district where a scaffold collapsed, trapping workers S. A., R. Ç. and H. Ç. All injured individuals were taken to local hospitals and investigations have been launched by police and labor authorities into safety violations and supervisory negligence.
