Turkey: Teachers seek pension reforms and win court ruling on extra lesson pay

In Turkey, teachers are organizing a petition campaign directed at the Ministry of National Education (MEB). The movement seeks to ensure that specialist and headteacher compensation is included in retirement pension and severance pay calculations, addressing what educators describe as a significant loss of rights during retirement.

In a separate legal development, the Ankara 6th Administrative Court ruled in favor of master's degree-holding teachers in vocational and technical secondary education institutions. The court overturned an administrative decision that had denied these teachers increased extra lesson pay based on the requirement of 'actual classroom teaching.' The ruling mandates that the teachers be paid all withheld financial rights along with legal interest, serving as a significant legal precedent for similar cases.
