Turkey roadworks trigger widespread traffic disruptions

Extensive road maintenance, construction, and repair projects are being implemented across various regions in Turkey, leading to significant traffic disruptions and lane closures.

In Istanbul, the D-100 Highway at the Küçükçekmece Viaduct will undergo expansion joint replacement. From October 9 to October 21, the Edirne-bound direction will be closed nightly between 23:00 and 06:00, with traffic diverted to the northern side road.

In Bursa, asphalt renewal in the Yıldırım district will cause temporary closures of Setbaşı Square, İpekçilik Street, Namazgah Street, and 1. Yeşil Street during the night of October 10 to October 11.

Other notable regional updates include: • Kars: The municipality is accelerating asphalt works on Kazımpaşa Street to complete them before winter. • Aydın: Maintenance on the İzmir-Aydın and Aydın-Denizli motorways is causing lane reductions and controlled passage. • Diyarbakır-Siverek: A section of the road is restricted to single-lane, two-way traffic due to construction. • Kocaeli: Maintenance on the Necmettin Erbakan Overpass will result in the closure of escalators for approximately one month.

The General Directorate of Highways (KGM) has issued warnings for drivers to follow traffic signs, reduce speeds, and prepare for potential congestion in areas including Çanakkale, Ankara, and Gaziantep.
