Turkey rolls out electronic customs system for EU e‑exports, first use by Merve Özçelik

The Turkish Ministry of Trade has launched a digital platform that automatically issues the electronic A. TR Circulation Document for e‑export shipments to the European Union valued at €150 or less. The system, linked to the Simplified Customs Declaration (BGB), became operational on 3 July 2026 for postal services and authorized fast‑cargo operators, eliminating the need for manual paperwork and reducing extra costs for exporters.

The first export using the new electronic document was carried out by female entrepreneur Merve Özçelik, who sells handcrafted leather products online. The document was presented to her by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, who highlighted the initiative’s role in supporting women entrepreneurs and small‑ and medium‑sized enterprises as the EU ends its de‑minimis exemption on 1 July 2026.
