Turkey rolls out new food‑labeling rules and pesticide‑prescription system on July 1
From 1 July 2026 Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry will require restaurants, cafés, hotels and similar establishments to list the type of meat used, all ingredients, allergens, presence of alcohol or pork derivatives and calorie information on menus. The information must be displayed on printed menus, digital screens, brochures, board displays or QR codes, and failure to comply will attract administrative sanctions. Businesses have until 31 December 2027 to fully adapt.
On the same date the ministry will expand the electronic “B‑prescription” system for plant‑protection products nationwide. After pilot trials in four provinces, the system will be activated in all 81 provinces, mandating electronic recording of pesticide sales and applications, limiting use to registered producers and approved dosages, and aiming to reduce health and environmental risks. Violations will be subject to enforcement actions.
