Armenia: Pashinyan demands answers after Azerbaijani national enters Shaki
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed strong dissatisfaction with the National Security Service and the Ministry of Defense following an incident in the village of Shaki, Syunik region, where an Azerbaijani national entered Armenian territory.
Reports indicate that law enforcement and state bodies had been informed of the individual's entry several days before the incident occurred, yet no effective operational steps were taken. Furthermore, the local population was not properly notified of the potential danger, which resulted in the individual entering a local resident's home.
Authorities are currently investigating the lack of response and the failure to inform the public. Within the government, discussions are underway regarding the potential dismissal of agency heads and officials. Some dismissals at the local government level have already been implemented. The Prime Minister stated that the Azerbaijani national will face legal proceedings in Armenia.
In a separate commentary, Andranik Tevanyan, president of the 'Mother Armenia' party, suggested that the incident highlights vulnerabilities related to the TRIPP corridor, claiming the individual's movement was facilitated by the principles of that mechanism.
