Turkey schedules extensive power cuts in Ankara and İzmir
Turkey’s electricity providers will carry out network renewal and maintenance work that will cause planned power outages across large parts of the capital Ankara and the Izmir region. In Ankara, district‑level cuts are slated for neighborhoods such as Gicik, Beşevler, Orhangazi, Akıncılar and others, with some areas facing day‑long interruptions on 13 May and others receiving shorter, timed outages throughout the day.
In Izmir, Gediz Elektrik announced that on 13 May 2026 maintenance will affect 15 districts, including Bornova, Buca, Karşıyaka, Konak, Çeşme and others. Some districts, notably Çeşme, will experience full‑day outages, while other neighborhoods will see interruptions limited to specific morning or evening hours. Providers emphasized that the work aims to strengthen the electricity infrastructure and asked residents to plan accordingly.
