Turkey schedules extensive power outages in Antalya and Ankara on May 18

On Monday 18 May, electricity distribution companies in Turkey will carry out planned grid renewal and maintenance work that will cut power in numerous neighbourhoods across the Antalya province and the capital Ankara. In Antalya, districts such as Döşemealtı, Serik, Manavgat, Finike, Aksu, Alanya, Gazipaşa, Kaş, Kemer, Konyaaltı, Korkuteli, Kumluca, Muratpaşa and others will see outages typically between 09:00 and 16:00, with some shorter interruptions as early as 02:00‑03:00. In Ankara, the program covers Keçiören, Çankaya, Etimesgut, Gölbaşı, Altındağ and Beypazarı, with outages lasting from a few hours up to several days in certain neighbourhoods, beginning on 18 May and extending into late May. Officials say the work aims to improve the safety and reliability of the electricity network and have urged residents to protect electronic devices and plan for the temporary loss of supply.
