Turkey schedules extensive electricity and water outages across multiple regions in August 2026
On 4 August 2026 GDZ Elektrik announced planned electricity interruptions in 14 districts of İzmir, affecting dozens of neighbourhoods for periods ranging from three to six hours. Ankara will see scheduled power cuts on 3‑5 August in districts such as Çankaya, Altındağ and Keçiören as part of grid renewal work, with some outages lasting up to eight hours. Gaziantep’s electricity provider listed cuts for 4 August in nine districts, including Şahinbey and Şehitkamil. In Istanbul, the water authority İSKİ warned of a 20‑hour water outage on 5‑6 August in six districts, including Arnavutköy and Büyükçekmece, after revamping a main supply line. Trabzon’s water agency scheduled service interruptions on 3 August in Akçaabat, Beşikdüzü, Maçka and Arsin due to pipe repairs, with outages from three to seven hours. The same day, Çoruh Elektrik Dağıtım AŞ announced electricity cuts in 11 Trabzon districts, affecting up to 34 neighbourhoods for up to eight hours. Hatay’s water authority provided 1,000 litres of free water to subscribers in Antakya, Defne and Samandağ after pipeline work caused temporary turbidity. Additional local electricity shutdowns were reported for Turgutlu and other towns. All interruptions are planned, time‑limited and intended to support infrastructure upgrades.
