Turkey seeks extradition of Julide Yazici after Albanian arrest

The Court of Tirana ordered a security measure of "arrest with imprisonment" for Turkish citizen Julide Yazici, 32, pending her extradition to Turkey. Yazici, who had previously been sentenced in Turkey to four years for providing logistical support to a terrorist organization and for participation in that organization, was detained at the Rinas border crossing while traveling from France to Albania. Interpol had listed her as a wanted person, prompting Albanian border police to seize her immediately. The Albanian judiciary will keep her in custody until the extradition procedures are completed, while Turkish authorities have formally requested her transfer. Her lawyer, Artan Shllaku, argues that she faces a risk to her life if extradited and will seek her immediate release.
