Turkey's banking sector credit volume tops 27 trillion lira
The Turkish banking sector recorded a total credit volume of about 27.4 trillion lira in the week ending 31 July 2026, up by 459 billion lira (≈1.7 % weekly growth). Consumer loans rose by 32 billion lira to 3.43 trillion lira, while individual credit‑card debt increased 4.4 % to 3.42 trillion lira.
Total bank deposits fell by roughly 1 trillion lira to 30.9 trillion lira. Currency‑protected TL deposits (KKM) declined by 34 million lira to 157 million lira. Legal equity of the banking system grew to 5.926 trillion lira, indicating a strengthening capital base.
