Turkey sees growth in organic tomato production and exports

Agricultural production of organic tomatoes is seeing significant activity in Turkey. In the Demirci district of Manisa, the 'çeşni' variety is being grown on 2,000 decares of land. This specific type is produced without any irrigation after the initial watering and uses only animal manure instead of pesticides. The annual yield for this waterless, heirloom variety is approximately 6,000 tons, with nearly half of that production coming from the Kerpiçlik neighborhood.

In Elazığ, organic tomato harvesting is underway across 7,000 decares of land. Producers expect a yield of between 15,000 and 20,000 tons this season. A portion of the Elazığ harvest is processed for drying in İzmir and exported to international markets, including Italy, the Netherlands, France, and the United States. The remaining fresh produce is distributed throughout various regions in Turkey.
