Turkey sees surge in demand for long‑term passports as visa rules tighten

Turkish travelers are increasingly choosing passports with validity of up to ten years instead of short‑term documents. Rising passport fees, annual revaluation and the cost of repeated renewals make the longer‑validity option more economical for businesspeople, students and frequent flyers.

Visa authorities, especially for the Schengen area, often require that a passport remain valid for a period after the intended travel dates. Applicants with soon‑to‑expire passports face extra fees and delays, prompting many to obtain a new long‑term passport rather than extend a short‑term one.
