Turkey sends 30 tons of humanitarian aid to earthquake‑stricken Venezuela
The Turkish government dispatched about 30 tons of humanitarian relief to Venezuela after the twin earthquakes of 24 June that left more than 18,000 people in temporary shelters. The cargo, arriving at Simón Bolívar International Airport in La Guaira, included 275 small tents for four‑to‑six persons, larger camp‑type tents, and roughly seven tonnes of medical supplies and medicines. It was flown by two Turkish Air Force aircraft that also brought back 74 Turkish rescuers and six search‑and‑rescue dogs who had assisted Venezuelan teams for two weeks. Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil received the shipment and highlighted its use for rebuilding dignified temporary camps. The aid follows earlier Turkish assistance, during which Turkish rescuers were honored with the “Hero of Venezuela” award for their work after the seismic events.
